more information
Each person in the land is actually from somewhere else entirely. Upon finding a strange, unmarked, red leather-bound book and opening it, they are transported to a completely different realm. Where exactly they land in this realm is up to the player, as is the degree to which they recall their old life; some might remember everything, while others believe themselves to have always lived where they are now. Either way, they are now a part of the greater fairy-tale world, and must learn to live in it.

Kingdoms divide up the landscape like puzzle pieces and rogues roam the borders, evil fairies cast wicked spells, quests practically drown the willing in possibility, beanstalks litter the landscape, and magic is the order of the day. No, things aren't always sunshine and daisies--but the occasional curse is a nice exchange for the chance at a perfect happy-ever-after.
